ADAMS HALL AND SPRINGHILL SUITES WIN AIA AKRON DESIGN AWARDS

7/22/2009  – The 350-bed Alvin C. Adams Residence Hall at Ohio University and the new generation of Marriott's select service brand SpringHill Suites have received design awards from AIA Akron.

Alvin C. Adams Hall is Ohio University's first new residence hall to be built in 35 years and was designed to serve as a gateway to the South Green area of campus. The new 110,000 sq. ft. structure emphasizes and maintains the campus' Georgian vernacular.

The 120-room SpringHill Suites, located in Waukegan, IL, places an emphasis on providing tranquil space for hotel guests through the use of light and air. This new concept embraces the core relationships of the original brand design with adaptations that influence the design goal.

Awards

With a tradition of excellence in the practice of architecture, Braun & Steidl Architects has been recognized and presented with many design awards over the past 25 years. In 1998, our firm received the State of Ohio's highest architectural honor, the AIA OHIO GOLD MEDAL FIRM AWARD. This honor was awarded in recognition of the most distinguished service and highest quality exemplified by a firm in the practice of architecture.

Continuing in this tradition of excellence, Braun & Steidl Architects' exemplary activity in the field of architecture is evident in the many organizations in which our principals and staff hold positions of leadership. In 2005 Doug Steidl, FAIA, served as the national president of The American Institute of Architects, and in 2007, Chas Schreckenberger, AIA, served as president of AIA Ohio.
